TOBACCO SUITE
Tobacco Suite is a pearl in the heart of Mesagne, a pretty village on the Salento plain and about 15 km from Brindisi airport. The structure consists of 8 flats and 5 rooms.
The central location allows you to enjoy the beautiful beaches of the Ionian and Adriatic Sea, visits to the precious villages in the province of Brindisi, food and wine tours, the various festivals and village fairs.
Tobacco Suite is the ideal residence for those who visit Salento by car and are looking for a strategic foothold between Brindisi, with its beaches and the beautiful villages of its province, such as Ostuni, Cisternino, Ceglie Messapica, Francavilla Fontana and Oria, and the charming beaches of Porto Cesareo and Gallipoli. It is striking for its simple, well-kept style and for the family welcome it offers its guests.
The historic 19th-century residence has a large façade on one of the oldest and most suggestive squares in the historic centre of Mesagne, Piazza Alessandro Romano, and is housed in an ancient building dating back to 1700 of which, thanks to exemplary restoration work, the period rooms have been enhanced. The building, known to the town’s inhabitants as “the tobacco warehouse”, was first used as a residential building, then as an oil mill and finally, between 1940 and 1970, as an industrial building for tobacco processing.
All thirteen residential units have been built respecting the peculiarities of the original structure, enhancing the purity of the original building materials and choosing coverings that harmonies with it. All the units are different from each other, cosy, tastefully and simply furnished, equipped with TV, mini bar, Wi-Fi and air conditioning. Each unit also has a private, fully equipped en suite bathroom with complimentary toiletries and hairdryer. Eight of the thirteen units have a living area with dining table and fully equipped kitchenette.
Restaurant
The Dimora Storica Tobacco Suite provides a buffet breakfast, served in the room overlooking the inner courtyard and the pool area. Breakfast consists of jams, cakes and sweets typical of the Brindisi culinary tradition, yoghurt, cereals, bread and fresh fruit every day as well as cold cuts and cheeses.
For lunch and dinner, we recommend local restaurants that have an agreement with us where you can taste excellent traditional dishes.
Services and activities
At guests’s disposal there is an outdoor swimming pool, located in the inner courtyard, equipped with sun beds and umbrellas for free use by our guests.
There is also a bright and welcoming reading room where guests can relax and enjoy the splendid view of the churchyard and the Dominican Church. The original “chianche” and the nineteenth-century vaults make this space fascinating and timeless. The room is located on the first floor, easily accessible by an internal lift.
Tobacco Suite also recommends a wide range of itineraries and guided excursions to the most fascinating villages in the area and to archaeological and natural sites. Tastings of typical local products are organized so that guests can discover the area’s extra virgin olive oil, wine, fruit and vegetables.
